The SA2X and SA2XM Precision Balanced Level Controls   The SA2X (balanced stereo) and SA2XM (balanced dual mono) are exceptionally transparent  sounding precision level controls. Available with two selectable Inputs or two selectable  Outputs (see below), they were designed mainly for recording studio environments. No distortion is added to your signal path while performing level control.  (Active preamps add in at least some distortion.) 2-position selector switch allows level control for 2 Signal Sources or 2 Outputs.  Available with Goldpoint fully Balanced Stereo (4 section) Precision Stepped Attenuator  or fully Balanced Dual Mono (2 section) Precision Stepped Attenuators  - for low noise and excellent channel-to-channel signal level matching. About Stepped Attenuator Values: We usually put 25K stepped attenuators into our SA1, SA2, and SA4 Passive Preamps. The 25K value allows the greatest flexibility, so these units can be used with nearly all solid-state and vacuum tube gear. We usually put 10K stepped attenuators into our SA1X and SA2X Precision Level Controls as these controls are most commonly used with amplified speakers (which have internal solid-state amplifiers). However, if requested, we will ship your SA Passive Preamp / Precision Level Control with any value stepped attenuator you choose from our stocked values (5K, 10K, 20K, 25K, 50K, 100K, or 250K).
